What started with humble ambitions of a cafe serving great coffee and tasty paninis has exceeded all expectations, and Harry’s Deli is now a legitimate regional food and wine destination.

Nestled in the heart of the picturesque McLaren Vale wine region in South Australia, Harry’s Deli offers casual dining inside the historic winery, overlooking native gardens and biodynamically farmed vineyards. It features a delicious menu showcasing regional produce in platters, mouth-watering paninis and flatbread, Chef Tom Boden’s “larger plates”, and the famous Son of Trott Pie, all accompanied by a selection of Wirra Wirra wines.

Harry’s Deli is the ideal pit stop when you are touring the region for a quick coffee, takeaway snack or a long, lazy lunch - any day of the week. The restaurant takes its name from a much-loved McLaren Vale character, Harry Kilaitis, a gifted carpenter who spent many of his days working out of Sparrow’s Lodge at Wirra Wirra.

Harry’s work graces the offices and cellar doors of a few McLaren Vale wineries, but it was at Wirra Wirra where he made his mark transforming Greg Trott’s dreams of oversized doors, tables and arches into timber masterpieces. When the sun is shining, enjoy your meal with a glass of Wirra Wirra wine in Harry’s Garden, an outdoor area adjacent to the enclosed courtyard overlooking Wirra Wirra’s famous trebuchet, expansive lawns and surrounding gum trees.

Harry’s Garden includes seating for up to 80 people under the shade of umbrellas, with access to lawns where visitors can enjoy playing games such as Finska, Cornhole and Giant Connect Four. It’s a perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine in hand.

Wirra Wirra also offers a range of tours and private tastings at the historic site, giving visitors a chance to see the working cellars built in the late 1800s.
