Nik opened The Flackyard with his wife, Emily, as a passion project for their family in the small regional town of Pinnacle, Queensland in 2019. The winding road from Airlie or Mackay through the Pioneer Valley is a lush green drive to where The Flackyard is nestled. The Mackay-Eungella Road can then be followed all the way up to the magnificent Eungella Ranges. A cheeky weekend or overnight adventure could see you enjoying a dining experience at The Flackyard, then soaking up pristine natural wonders - enchanting rainforests, platypus spotting, breathtaking elevations and gorge swimming.

The Flackyard is an intimate venue that places equal value on every guest's ultimate experience. The building is a repurposed church built in 1915. It is a retreat with respect for space and light. Earthy tones, dress tables and engaging artwork are always evolving. There is plenty of room to relax and breathe with the loft of the heritage ceilings and long portal windows with views to thriving landscape and kitchen gardens.

As you dine, you will find more than 30 different awe-inspiring Australian native ingredients wisely entwined with authentic local produce and regional appreciation. Led by Chef Nik, a passionate small team presents carefully developed and insightful indulgent moments with each course on a 6, 8 or 10-course degustation dining experience.

Emily curates and creates the sensational array of beverages. Natural, organic and biodynamic Australian wines make up an enhancing pairing menu, along with tastings of The Flackyard’s own Bush Beer and Rainforest Cider with floating ruby finger lime pearls dancing in the glass. A bespoke, no-alcohol beverage pairing is also available. Each cocktail also contains Australian native ingredients, capitalising on potent active constituents that can vary from plate to glass.

Nik and Em will never let the dream that is The Flackyard go, and rightly so, as they both resonate with how rare it is that any of us get to be so fortunate to truly realise our dreams.
